Can you believe it? It’s already time for the 2021 Iron Bowl. It seems like only yesterday, we were brimming with excitement about the college football season starting. Now, BOOM – we blinked and it’s Thanksgiving and time for another Iron Bowl. Crazy how time flies.
The Alabama Crimson Tide. The Auburn Tigers. In my book, there’s no rivalry more heated, there’s no rivalry more personal, and there’s no rivalry that’s better in all of college football. You can keep your Michigan-Ohio State. I’ll take Alabama-Auburn eight days a week. Seeing as how we are the official unofficial kings of the drinking game (trademark pending), I figured it was our responsibility to the great fan bases on both sides of this rivalry to bring back the Iron Bowl drinking game for 2021.
The game kicks off at 2:30PM CST on Saturday, LIVE from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The Tide is currently a 19.5-point favorite, with an over/under set at 55.5 points. LFG.
IRON BOWL DRINKING GAME 2021
TAKE A DRINK IF/WHEN…
- someone mentions how “personal” this rivalry is.
- someone mentions that Alabama leads the series history with 47 Iron Bowl wins
- you hear the names Roy Upchurch, Chris Davis, Brodie Croyle (and/or “the sack game”), or Van Tiffin
- someone points out that Alabama is 2-2 in the last four Iron Bowls…
- anyone brings up the “NFL talent” in this game
- they show the College Football Playoff rankings.
- anyone brings up this game first being played in Birmingham
- Bryce Young is discussed as a Heisman candidate.
- Bryan Harsin and “progress” or “the job he’s done” are mentioned in the same sentence.
- the Alabama offense gets a play of 20 yards or more.
- TJ Finley rushes.
- Brian Robinson rushes for 10 yards. Yes, this means drink every time Robinson amasses 10 yards.
- someone from either team registers a sack. Take a 2nd drink if it’s anyone other than Will Anderson that does it.
- Tank Bigsby passes the 60-yard mark in the game (that would give him 1,000 rushing yards on the season)
- Jameson Williams or John Metchie III catches a pass.
- A player crosses 100 yards of offense. Do this for every player that does it…even quarterbacks
- Shedrick Jackson catches a pass.
- either team gets ahead by 10 – yes, this means take a drink every time either team gets ahead by 10.
- someone mentions that Auburn has dropped three straight.
- there’s a turnover.
TAKE A SHOT IF/WHEN…
- they show the Kick Six from 2013.
- Nick Saban throws his headset.
- Auburn scores 20.
- Alabama scores 50.
- the OVER hits (55.5).
