Welcome in to the 2021 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2021 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2021 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 12

5. Cordarrelle Patterson, Falcons RB – Man, how good did it feel for Arthur Smith to get Patterson back for Sunday’s win over the Jags? I’m fully aware that this is going to seem ludicrous to a lot of you, as this man has absolutely no shot at the MVP award, but damn…doesn’t he at least deserve to be mentioned at some point because of just how much he means to this Falcons offense?!?! Patterson had 108 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, and now has 911 total yards on the season with nine total touchdowns. He’s been a weapon for the Falcons.

4. Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB – It’s going to take a lot more than some little toe injury to slow Rodgers down! Hobbled, the reigning MVP went 28/45 for 307 yards, two touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown to boot in a quality 36-28 win over the Rams on Sunday. Only Kyler Murray has a higher passer rating on the season than Rodgers does.

3. Leonard Fournette, Bucs RB – Is Playoff Lenny officially getting going in November? ‘Cause it kinda feels like Playoff Lenny is getting it going. He looked more like Jonathan Taylor than Jonathan Taylor did in Indianapolis on Sunday, going for 100 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 31 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown as the Bucs beat the Colts 38-31.

2. Derek Carr, Raiders QB – Carr went 24/39 for 373 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. He’s now the league leader in passing yards with 3,414 yards, and this Raiders offense is getting it going with him at the helm. At 6-5, this team simply will not go away in the AFC playoff race.

1. Josh Allen, Bills QB – Allen and the Bills offense needed a get-right game on offense and that’s exactly what they got against the Saints on Thanksgiving night. Allen went 23/28 for 260 yards, four touchdowns, and two picks, with 43 rushing yards and a 5.4 yards-per-carry average to go with it. He is now tied with Patrick Mahomes for the third most passing touchdowns of the season so far with 25. With the MVP race wide open so far this season, Allen got himself back in the hunt.
