Welcome in to the 2021 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2021 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2021 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 11

5. Austin Ekeler, Chargers RB – Having a guy like Ekeler, that can do so many things well, makes your offense more dynamic. The Chargers know that full and well – just ask Justin Herbert. Ekeler was all over the place on Sunday night, rushing for 50 yards and two touchdowns as well as catching six passes for 65 yards and two receiving touchdowns. 115 total yards and four touchdowns – not a bad day at the office.

4. Jalen Hurts, Eagles QB – You know what? Fuck it – it’s my column and I make the rules here. Let’s take a moment to recognize just how much Hurts has improved over the course of this season, and just how dangerous his legs make this Eagles offense, who have quietly gone 3-1 in their last four games and gotten back into the playoff hunt. They just went out and hung 40 points on one of the best defenses in football, no less. Hurts was 13/24 for 147 yards through the air, but it was his impact in the running game that kept the Saints on their heels. Hurts posted 69 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

3. Tom Brady, Buccaneers QB – Brady just absolutely worked the Giants defense on Monday Night Football. I mean, this man was slicing and dicing those boys like he knew what they were thinking. He continues to play at an elite level in year 40 in the NFL. Last night, he went 30/46 for 307 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick.

2. Justin Herbert, Chargers QB – Herbert was allowing the MVP race to pass him by, but he had a statement performance on Sunday Night Football to get back in the hunt. Herbert became the first player in NFL to pass for over 350 yards and rush for 90 yards in the same game. Against the Steelers, Herbert finished 30/41 for 382 yards, three touchdowns and a pick to go along with his 90 rushing yards.

1. Jonathan Taylor, Colts RB – Oof…I know those of you who come to SoBros Network for my Titans coverage won’t want to hear this, but we absolutely have to start considering Taylor among the legitimate MVP contenders. He has become the best running back in football since Derrick Henry went down with an injury. On Sunday, he was absolutely dominant in the Colts’ ass-stomping on the Bills in Buffalo. Taylor finished with 32 carries for 185 yards and four rushing touchdowns, with 19 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown to go with it.
