This week, I’ll be taking a look back at some of our best episodes on each of the SoBros Network podcasts. Up next, we’re diving into the best of the best on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast in 2021. We’ve already taken a deep dive into the actor, actress, and filmmaker profiles we’ve done this year, but part of what I love most about this show is the variety of the topics we discuss. It’s been a hell of a year here on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, and between our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, a couple of SoBros guest, and myself, we’ve put together quite the collection of podcasts over the course of the year. Let’s dive in – here is the “best of the rest.”

The Best of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, 2021

Ep. 71: Godzilla vs. Kong Review (link) – I don’t know that there was anything particularly special about this show. I just remember it being a ton of fun, and for me, this was the first time I had been back to a movie theater in a LOOOOONG time. So, this show (which was also livestreamed) has a special place in my heart.

Ep. 73: Mortal Kombat Review (link) – Nothing like watching a movie and then pressing ‘record’ on a podcast at 11PM at night.

Ep. 74: The 2021 Atlanta Film Festival (link) – Brandon caught us up on all of the selections at this year’s Atlanta Film Festival, covered remotely from the comfort of his own home here in Nashville this year. Seriously, though – I love the Atlanta Film Festival. I had the pleasure of helping to cover it in 2020, and can’t wait until we can get back down there to cover it in person again.

Ep. 76: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, and A Quiet Place (link) – In my opinion, this was the best episode we did all year. It was Brandon’s idea to celebrate the release of A Quiet Place, Pt. II by kind of combining conversations about Emily Blunt’s filmography, John Krasinski’s, and how A Quiet Place came to be in one single episode, and there was so much meat on the bone for this one that we ended up having one of our best discussions to date.

Ep. 78: The 2021 Chattanooga Film Festival (link) – This was a big year for us at the Chattanooga Film Festival, as we had all three of Brandon, Steven McCash, and Brittany Fernandez covering it for us. Brandon and Steven got together on this one to recap all of the action.

Ep. 84: Dear Evan Hansen Review (link) – You never really know what’s going to take off and what isn’t in the content game. I’m only listing this here because it ended up being our most-downloaded review pod of the year.

Ep. 86: The 2021 Nashville Film Festival (link) – It was the first festival we got to back to in person, and while Brandon and Steven might have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off, attending screenings and trying to balance regular life too, the juice was well worth the squeeze as the three of us got together for one fun conversation about all they had seen.

Ep. 87: Halloween Kills Review (link) – It’s always great to have the spooky queen herself, Brittany Fernandez, on to any episode that we do. But, when we get to talk about one of the greatest horror franchises of all time, -and- it’s during Spooky Season, no less? That’s just icing on the cake.
