Welcome in to the 2021 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?
Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2021 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”
2021 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 14
5. Dalvin Cook, Vikings RB – Tough scene for Steelers fans, but y’all know the drill by now – you have a game like Cook did on Thursday night, you get a spot in the weekly NFL MVP Watch. Them’s the rules. Cook had 27 carries and turned it into 205 yards (7.4 YPC!!!!) and two touchdowns.
4. Tom Brady, Bucs QB – Yet again, Brady goes out there and just posts some unreal passing yardage with a stat line that reads 31/46 for 363 passing yards and two touchdowns. He’s the first guy to cross 4K passing yards this season and also leads the league in touchdown passes with 36. By the way, did you guys know how fucking old he is?!?! I don’t think that’s talked about enough…
3. George Kittle, 49ers TE – Fuck it, let’s start a legitimate ‘Kittle for MVP’ campaign. I mean, hell…the way he’s been playing these last couple of weeks, who’s been more important to his team? This year’s MVP race is absolutely wide open, so there’s no reason to think that with an extra game, Kittle can’t get back into the hunt if he keeps up this frenetic pace of play. I love it. 13 catches, 151 yards, and a touchdown – he even had the Bengals coach saying “we tried like hell to stop him.” He’s a FORCE!

2. Justin Herbert, Chargers QB – I’m here for the continued Justin Herbert glow-up. That 59-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Guyton was ungodly. This man is slingin’ it right now. He finished the dominant win over the Giants at 23/31 for 275 yards and three touchdowns. His 30 touchdowns on the season are tied for 2nd in the league. He’s a legit MVP candidate – say it with me.
1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB – Against the Chicago Bears, Rodgers was back to doing Rodgers things. Just when it looked like the Bears were going to pull off the unthinkable, Rodgers hit ’em with the okie doke, going 29/37 for 341 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. It feels like every week we’re saying “can’t forget about [insert quarterback’s name here] in the MVP race!” This week, it’s Rodgers’ turn to be that guy.
