This week, I’ll be taking a look back at some of our best episodes on each of the SoBros Network podcasts. Up next, we’re diving into the various filmmaker profiles that we’ve done on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast in 2021. It’s been a hell of a year here on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, and between our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, a couple of SoBros guest, and myself, we’ve put together quite the collection of podcasts over the course of the year. Let’s dive in.
The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, 2021: Filmmakers
Zack Snyder (link) – Advocates of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement finally got their wish back in March, as HBO MAX released Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Whether you love him or hate him, we can all agree that Zack Snyder has a certain style and vision. Brandon and I discussed Snyder’s filmography as a filmmaker and his impact on the DCEU on this episode.
Clint Eastwood (link) – There are few living legends left in Hollywood, but Eastwood is chief among them. It’s incredible to think about the fact that he’s still making movies at his age (Cry Macho dropped back in September), and he has endured a career that has spanned generations. It’s rare to find someone who is one thing to one generation, and something completely different to another. I would say that, to me, I think more of Eastwood the filmmaker. But, I know the older generations know him as the gunslinger from all of the best westerns. Brandon and I had an awesome chat about Eastwood the filmmaker back in September upon the release of Cry Macho.
Kenneth Branagh (link) – Well, we wrapped up an…interesting…trio of filmmakers profile on this year’s shows with a look at Kenneth Branagh’s body of work. Belfast was one of Brandon’s highest rated movies of the year, and after Brandon offered his full review on it, we couldn’t help but beg the universe for more Belfast, and less Artemis Fowl. Branagh is an accomplished filmmaker in his own right, going back to his Shakespearean efforts back in the 1980s and 1990s. We hit it all!
