I can’t believe it’s already time for my good friend and our Utility Man, Steven McCash, and I to fire up the College Football Roundup once more. The 2022 season is quickly approaching, and it’s time for us to get back on the wagon and get ready for another thrilling season of college football action. We’re kicking off the summer preview season with a deep dive into the SEC East and where things stand right now within the division.
It’s an interesting conversation to have – the Georgia Bulldogs are rightly the presumptive favorites. They’re returning some key pieces on offense and hoping to reload on defense. They should once again be the deepest and most talented team in the SEC East. But, what happens beyond Athens feels like a total crap shoot. It’s what makes this divisional race feel like a total wild card, and that’s kind of the topic we center our premiere episode around.
If it ain’t Georgia, then who the hell is it? McCash names the Tennessee Volunteers. I name the Kentucky Wildcats (again…I know…). We dive into what has to happen for each team to push Georgia, and how likely each team is to finish 2nd in the SEC East. Then, we talk about the dark horses in the Florida Gators and South Carolina Gamecocks. We discuss what the Missouri Tigers have to do to work their way out of the six-win ceiling they’ve been under the past two seasons. And, of course, we debate whether or not the Vanderbilt Commodores can hit the over on their season win total (currently at 2.5 – yikes). Yeah – feels pretty damn good to be back!
