I’m all for a good thunderstorm. Well, at least one that isn’t life-threatening or incredibly destructive. And, I’m all for some relaxing ASMR to get to me to sleep a little bit quicker. That is a little slice of life action in my book. That’s just base human experience stuff that makes the whole entire rest of the world just melt away, and yes, that really does help me rest my restless mind. I can certainly understand the desire to have a more vivid sensory experience, believe me, but I think we have to draw a line somewhere. Folks, to me, that somewhere is this thunderstorm simulation spa room.

I can appreciate a good storm, but I don’t know that I’ve ever felt like being stranded at sea during a thunderstorm is a vibe. I can watch The Perfect Storm, but that doesn’t mean I want to be in The Perfect Storm. I think I might be into it if it was just some gentle rain in a dimly lit indoor pool. But, they went full bore with the lightning and clouds on a projector, the waves, and some really intense sound effects. Maybe this is just my shark/ocean phobia being triggered, but I kept waiting for something to pop out of the fucking water! This is anything but relaxing to me.
Maybe I would enjoy this if they also built a little porch away from it with some fake windows. I could sit on the other side, from the warmth of a cozy chair and just watch the fake storm. I could do that all day, which probably wouldn’t be good for me. I mean, how disorienting would it be to walk into a storm room where it looks like you could drown at any moment to then walk out into a bright sunshiny day? That’s going to really jack up that internal ‘flight or fight’ clock. I don’t know – I just think I’m way out on the storm-themed spa room, but y’all have fun if that’s your thing.
