The college football season -really- kicks off tonight with a slate of games that features a couple sneaky good ones that could potentially have College Football Playoff ramifications. That may sound dramatic, but don’t be surprised if we’re looking back at this Penn State-Purdue game a little differently come December! Although our rhythm has been a little all over the place this summer, the resident Utility Man of the SoBros Network, Steven McCash, and I have revived the College Football Roundup for another season. After previewing the SEC East, the SEC West, the Heisman race, and predicting our College Football Playoff spots, it’s time to talk real meaningful college football yet again!
That’s exactly what we did on our most recent episode! Steven joined me to review “Week 0,” as it were. We laud Pat Fitzgerald for having his Northwestern Wildcats ready, and we criticize Scott Frost for whatever the fuck he was thinking in calling that onside kick. I would ask why the Nebraska Cornhuskers didn’t throw him in the ocean on the way back from Ireland, but I am told that that is actually mean, so I won’t ask it. All kidding aside, we discuss whether or not the Frost hot seat conversation is warranted or not. Then, we dive into the 63-point bloodletting the Vanderbilt Commodores hung on Hawaii, including Mike Wright‘s four total touchdowns. Yes, folks – the Mike Wright Heisman campaign starts here on the College Football Roundup, however short-lived it may be.
Then, we switch gears and look ahead to the week to come – from West Virginia-Pitt to Florida State-LSU, we dive into the lines of every major college football game this weekend, and weigh in on how we’re probably going to bet ’em.
