Welcome all degenerate gamblers back into our weekly American football betting column here on the SoBros Network, Tank the 401k. Call your bookie and empty those retirement accounts (actually, don’t really do that – this is just sarcasm. Our lawyers say we shouldn’t claim to be experts on anything because we’re not)! Each week, the SoBros team up to offer their five locks of the week – obviously, we’re not professionals here so take this advice with a grain of salt and don’t sue us if you piss all of your money away. That’s not our fault. Okay, I think we’re all set here – here are this week’s SoBros gambling picks.

STEVEN’S PICKS

When you go 1-4 after spending quite a bit of time researching stats in order to make logical picks where do you go from there? You simply close your eyes and point because you can’t really any worse. So with that said here’s what my pointy finger picked for this week’s slate of games…

  • Iowa -11
  • Cincinnati +2
  • Ole Miss -1.5
  • Titans -2
  • Commanders +2.5

STONEY’S PICKS

  • Ravens-Bucs, OVER 45.5 – I’m 0-4 ATS on Thursday Night Football this season, so while I’m leaning Bucs in this one, I’m not going to jinx myself like that. Instead, I’ll say that I kind of like 78 degrees in Tampa with two offenses with elite capabilities that are trying to get back on track. I like a 28-27 type of game here.
  • BYU -3.5 – East Carolina is playing its best football of the season so far. They’re balanced on offense with a stout run game and a prolific passing attack with an experienced quarterback. This is a team that is trending upwards, and I totally get why you’d put your money on the Pirates at +3.5. But, BYU has had a tough stretch over the last three games between hosting Notre Dame, hosting Arkansas, and making a long trip to a talented Liberty team. That might have something to do with their defensive struggles. With their season on the brink, back at home in front of a fired-up fan base in primetime on a Friday night, I think they get just enough defense out of it to win this game. I don’t expect to see many stops, and this has the makings of a fun one. I’m taking the Cougars to get back on track for a bowl game in a shootout.
  • Wake Forest -3.5 @ Louisville – ESPN’s match-up predictor is even giving Louisville the edge in this one. What am I missing here, folks? Why are you guys betting on the Cardinals here? Louisville has been the beneficiary of some big plays on defense in recent weeks, and I think it’s dangerous betting to rely on trends like that to continue. Sam Hartman and the Wake Forest offense is a juggernaut right now, and believe it or not, these boys are still in contention for a a playoff spot if a few things fall their way. I just don’t see the Louisville defense, as good as its been, being able to slow Wake Forest down, and I don’t see their offense being able to keep up with Wake Forest’s either. Bet Louisville at your own risk. I’m taking the Demon Deacons.
  • North Carolina -3.5 vs. Pittsburgh – I like the Tar Heels to continue their dominance on offense this weekend. The Panthers can rush the passer and they have a solid secondary, but I don’t know that they have the explosiveness on offense to keep up with North Carolina if Drake Maye gets going. Maybe some of the match-ups point to value in Pitt here because of their defense, but I think Kedon Slovis and an anemic passing attack keeps them from covering on the road.
  • Illinois @ Nebraska, UNDER 50.5 – I don’t like betting unders that often, but I love this one. Nebraska isn’t going to be able to score on Illinois, and Illinois will be content to run the ball and play defense. This is a 24-13 game if I ever saw it.
