The Best Patios in Mount Juliet

It's almost patio season, and if you're looking for a spot out here east of town, allow Stoney to pass along his recommendations.

It’s almost patio season here in Middle Tennessee. You know what I’m talking about – that brief period of time in between winter and the eternal blazes of summer that we know as “spring.” It lasts about a week. But for that moment in time, there’s nothing better than day drinking on a patio. If you’re looking for somewhere new to explore, head on out to my neck of the woods here in Mount Juliet and try out one of my favorite spots to get shit-faced on a random Tuesday afternoon.

My Favorite Patios in Mount Juliet

Prost & Riot – Maybe the beer garden at Prost & Riot isn’t technically a patio per se, but it is probably the best outdoor spot to drink a beer in Mount Juliet. It’s a great hangout spot in general. Hell, it may be the greatest hangout spot in Mount Juliet. They have a variety of beer you won’t get elsewhere around town, and I’ve yet to have a bad meal there either. It’s top notch.

The Goat – When The Goat first opened, it immediately became one of my favorite spots in town. Somewhere along the way, the quality of the food and service deteriorated. I like to think I’m a fair guy – I give everyone the old “three strikes and you’re out” routine. The Goat got their three strikes for me about a year or so ago, and I haven’t been back for dinner since. But, I’ll say that their bar area, with the big open windows, and the patio out back next to the pool remains undefeated. They pour up some good cocktails and the vibes are right. So, while…hey, I’m just being transparent here…I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a good meal, I’d definitely recommend it as a place to go enjoy some sunshine and a million beverages.

Jonathan’s Grille – I’ve been a longtime Jonathan’s hater. Every time someone recommended it, I would make sure they knew that I hated it, but that I was willing to go anyway just because I loved their company. Is that gaslighting? Maybe. Nonetheless, I’ve walked back my take that Jonathan’s has shitty food ever since they came out with their Nashville hot bacon cheeseburger. That shit slaps. It follows my #1 rule of making a cheeseburger: put pimento cheese on it. Anyway, even in my hating prime, I couldn’t help but respect the Jonathan’s patio out back. I spent many an afternoon there downing 2-for-1s because they do have a killer happy hour. It’s certainly a great spot to drink way too much and have to call your wife to come pick you up.

MLRose full review – While the deck out at MLRose is on the smaller side, with it, you get the added benefit of a damn good beer list and some damn good food. Unlike The Goat and Jonathan’s, MLRose has my full endorsement in every aspect of the restaurant experience – booze, vibes, food, value. It’s all there as one of the elite spots in town.

Anyway, I can’t pretend to have gotten drunk on every patio in Mount Juliet. These are just my spots, but if there’s anything I need to try, let me know in the comments.
