Let’s Take a Look at the Shiny New NFL Record and Fact Book

We have a few Tennessee Titans showing up in this year's NFL record and fact book.

Wake up, babe. The new NFL Record and Fact Book just dropped! The benefit of being a bona fide media journalist is that I get it delivered right to my inbox. Fret not – part of that job is actually passing along these little nuggets to you guys. I believe that is what journalism is. There’s nothing else going on in the football world right now, so let’s dig through this bitch and find some records and facts that might pertain to the Tennessee Titans.

Via press release:

A.J. BROWN, Philadelphia, needs 50 receptions, 850 receiving
yards and five touchdown receptions to become the fifth player ever to
reach those marks in each of his first five seasons, joining Gary Clark,
A.J. Green, T.Y. Hilton and Randy Moss. Brown also:
Needs three games with at least 150 receiving yards to tie Jerry Rice
(10 games) for the second-most such games ever by a player in his first
five seasons. Only Lance Alworth (12 games) has more. Brown has
seven such games in four seasons.

Hmmmm….this is just an interesting factoid that isn’t related to the Titans at all. I just bring it up because it’s quite interesting…no good reason or anything like that.

DERRICK HENRY, Tennessee, needs 10 rushing touchdowns to
become the third player in NFL history to reach the mark in six
consecutive seasons, joining LaDainian Tomlinson (nine) and Adrian
Peterson (seven). Henry also:
Needs one game with 200 rushing yards to surpass Adrian Peterson
(six) and O.J. Simpson (six) for the most such games all-time.

Totally doable. I think the biggest thing that might prevent him from hitting these numbers is if they start using him a little less after drafting Tyjae Spears. I’m not sure he’ll get the rushing yards he needs to hit 10K (figure below), but I think 10 touchdowns is reasonable, and as long as they’re playing the Texans twice, he’s got a good shot at going for 200 at least once. I don’t think Henry is ready to ride off into the sunset quite yet.

DEANDRE HOPKINS needs 97 receptions to become the second
player ever with 950 in his first 11 seasons, joining Marvin Harrison
(1,022). Hopkins has 853 receptions in his first 10 seasons.

This shouldn’t be a problem for future Titan DeAndre Hopkins.

More Titans notes

  • Derrick Henry needs six more touchdowns than Davante Adams and two more touchdowns than Mike Evans to become the active leader in touchdowns scored (assuming he stays ahead of everyone behind him too).
  • Derrick Henry needs 1,665 rushing yards in 2023 to hit the 10,000 career mark.
  • Kevin Byard is currently 8th among active interceptors with 27 for his career.
  • With an average of 54.1 yards per punt, Ryan Stonehouse is the top active punter.
  • With 48 wins as a head coach, Mike Vrabel is 13th in the NFL in wins among active head coaches.

Man, seeing these All-Pro and Pro Bowl rosters again just reminds me of how pissed I am that Ryan Stonehouse was snubbed. Okay, nobody told me this thing was 842 pages long. I’m out of here. This is too much work.
