It’s that time of the year yet again. The Wilson County Fair…or…I guess it’s called the Tennessee State Fair now too? I don’t know – I’ve been out of the fair game for a few years now, so I’m not zeroed in on what their branding is now. Anyway, it’s here and it’s open this week. But, it’s just too hot. There’s too many people. I’m too big to ride any of the rides anymore (6’2″ 280lbs). Unless I can sneak in on a day when it isn’t crowded and just peruse the art exhibits, the photography contest, and the historic Fiddler’s Grove, then I want no part of that gargantuan beast anymore.
It’s funny – my wife took me to the Monmouth County Fair up in New Jersey a few weeks ago, and she prefaced it by saying it probably wasn’t a 10th of the size of the fair back home. What she failed to realize is that that actually works for me. I like the quieter, smaller, small town feeling that a smaller, less excessive fair experience has to offer. Nonetheless, with the fair being back as the official unofficial last event of the summer time, Brandon Vick was kind enough to hop on the mics with me and relive some of our greatest…or, I should say not-so-greatest county fair memories.
Before that, we do a little catching up on what’s in theaters and what’s streaming. After all, you can’t have a film critic on the show without talking about film and television, right? We share our thoughts on Wedge Pizza & Pub, which just opened up in Nashville. And, we relive our night at Prost & Riot here in Mount Juliet a couple of Saturdays ago, reflecting upon 10 years of SoBros Network!
