Alright, folks – we’re reliving the best of 2022 here on SoBros Network this week, and I’m keeping the series rolling by looking at our 10 most downloaded podcasts of the year! Well…kind of….if I did that literally, it would actually be one episode of Phone It In and then 10 episodes of The Unofficial Titans Podcast that are now completely outdated and there’s no point listening to them. So, what I actually did was take the top two -evergreen- episodes from all of our shows this year and then ranked them by number of downloads. LFG!
The Top 10 SoBros Podcasts of 2023
10. The SoBros Power Hour, Ep. 106: The 2023 State of the SoBros – link – Oh, wow, you mean people actually listened to me blubber into a microphone about the things SoBros Network has done this year? No one ever listens to this podcast!
9. The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, Ep. 139: The Holdovers Review, Alexander Payne – link – What a real underdog story. I’m so happy that this discussion ended up being the 2nd most downloaded episode of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast this year, and I still say more people need to go see this movie.
8. The SoBros Power Hour, Ep. 85: Overrated Nashville – link – Uh oh…full disclosure…even though this episode was released all the way back in January, it was technically recorded back at the SoBros Content Retreat in August of 2022. *gasp* The controversy! Anyway, Ryan, Sean, and I talk about things we find overrated about our beloved Music City.
7. The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, Ep. 130: The Flash Review – link – Yeah, I knew back in June that this was going to end up at #1 on this list based on the response to it. I was right. Who wouldn’t want to listen to Brandon and Sean debate whether or not this movie was actually good? I actually had to tell these two to wrap it up or who knows? They might still be talking about this movie to this day.
6. Ep. 36: Drinking With…Barbershop – link – I was surprised at how well Barbershop has held up throughout the years. Sure, there are some jokes you probably couldn’t make today, but this was an iconic movie and it was a blast to look back on it with Brandon and McCash.
5. Ep. 32: Drinking With…Chicago – link – Something about sipping on a good cocktail and reliving this musical just feels right. It’s like this movie was made for this podcast. I’m glad it was respected as such.
4. Phone It In, Ep. 43: The Daedalus Sea Serpent – link – Hell yeah, I love it when the weird obscure shit on Phone It In ends up being the stuff that people are most interested in. I had never heard this tale before doing this podcast, so it was a learning experience for me too.
3. The Unofficial Titans Podcast, Ep. 142: Titans “What If?” – link – Inspired by Marvel’s What If? cartoon on Disney+, Owen and I looked back on some key moments throughout the history of the Titans franchise and asked what could’ve been.
2. The Unofficial Titans Podcast, Ep. 143: Jake Locker – link – I will always be a Jake Locker apologist. He came to the franchise at an interesting time in its history. Zach Lyons sat down for a career retrospective on the former Titans quarterback.
1. Phone It In, Ep. 44: The Appalachian Mountains – link – For the first time in the history of the show, Phone It In captures the top episode of the year honors. This year, it was by just three downloads, but boy, those were three important downloads. This episode ruled, and I’m happy to see it rewarded with so much attention this year.
