The Nashville Scene’s Hot Chicken Week is HERE! Beginning today (1/29) and running through February 4th, more than 30 Nashville area dining establishments will be offering up $7 special Nashville hot chicken dishes. It is a veritable parade of culinary creativity and excellence. I love consuming as much hot chicken as possible in a week’s time, but I’ll be out of town for this magical holiday yet again. This is the second year in a row I’ve missed Hot Chicken Week because I’m down in Mobile covering the Senior Bowl. I’m devastated, of course. I’m going to shed a single tear every time I refresh my feeds and see you guys out there living the life I’ve always wanted to live.
Anyway, maybe the best part of it all, for me, is the anticipation. There’s nothing like seeing that lineup drop and doing all of the subsequent scouting. For one, I’m looking at which of the heavyweights will be participating – the spots like Bolton’s, Hattie B’s, and Prince’s. They’re all in the field this year. Then, I’m looking for the weird shit. I want to see who has the stones in this competition to really go outside the box and offer up some truly unhinged meal – the Nashville hot chicken ramen…the Nashville hot chicken gyro…stuff like that that I’m pretty sure we’ve seen before but can’t remember for sure. Anyway, that’s what I like to scout. So even though I’m not going to be able to participate in this year’s festivities, I’ve gone ahead and done the leg work so that you know going into the week where exactly you can get the wildest options. Bone apple teeth:
- Bavarian Bierhaus: Nashville hot chicken schnitzel
- Hi-Fi Clyde’s: hot chicken avocado toast
- Hoppy Bird: waffle sliders
- Peachtree Neighborhood Grill: hot chicken kabob
- Punk Wok: Saigon Sando (bahn mi style sandwich)
- Red’s Hot Chicken: hot chicken polenta bowl
- Stay Golden: hot chicken salad sandwich
- Stompin’ Grounds: crispy hot chicken bao buns

Editor’s Note: The featured image is some hot chicken I cooked myself at home. I used it because I don’t have permission to use any images from the Scene’s site and don’t want to get a cease and desist. Thanks for your understanding.
