I pride myself on being transparent. I think it’s the most important factor in building trust with your audience, and trust is important so that you guys know I’m not just saying wild shit on the internet to drum up engagement. That said, I’m going to have a moment of transparency with you guys this morning. I am totally ripping this topic off from my friends Easton and JT on The Hot Read Podcast. An episode last week pondered which Tennessee Titans were under the most pressure this season, and seeing JT mention NPF and Easton mention Bill Callahan put my mind in a pretzel. In lieu of hijacking the comments of the stream, I thought, “I’ll just weigh in on this topic on this little website I manage named SoBros Network.” So, with respect to the BoomBoyz, these are the 4-5 Titans that I think will be under the most pressure this season.

Will Levis – For the most part, I’d say Ran Carthon has done a phenomenal job this offseason in stockpiling talent and filling holes around Levis. Now, the onus is on him to prove that he’s the guy worth building around. I’m confident that he is because he showed the intangible traits that you can’t coach into a guy throughout his rookie season. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I’m aware of that. But, he’s a tough, physical player whose competitive spirit burns brightly. He looked like a guy that his teammates were willing to rally around, and to me, that’s the biggest part of the secret sauce for a young ascending quarterback. That said, the part that wasn’t sunshine and rainbows is still on tape, and there’s plenty to improve upon. It’s still a matter of execution for Levis stepping into that franchise role. If he doesn’t succeed in 2024, what are we going to blame? Oh, the right tackle? After everything else they’ve added around him? Nah…this guy’s under pressure.

Calvin Ridley – There’s this thing happening with the Titans fan base, and I hate to even bring it up and spoil all the fun, but we’re just assuming that Ridley is going to solve the Titans problem at receiver….that he’s Brian Callahan’s version of Ja’Marr Chase in Nashville. But, there absolutely still is pressure to execute. Ridley had some spotty play with Jacksonville, and while I’d attribute a lot of that to some sporadic quarterback play on the other end of the equation, there’s just enough there for doubt to creep in. I’m with the optimistic crowd on Ridley. I think he’s going to be pretty good in this offense, with this quarterback, and with this supporting cast and coaching staff. But, he still has to live up to the hype and the lofty expectations that comes along with a payday like that.

Cedric Gray/James Williams – While I think the hope is for Gray to snag the other middle linebacker spot relatively early in his career, the drafting of Williams and subsequent move from safety to linebacker makes this spot a little more interesting. But neither guy was among the top of his position in this year’s draft class. So, they’re asking guys to step up and step up quickly to fill a starting role on this defense, which automatically creates pressure. There’s also this voice in the back of my head that says we might ought to prepare ourselves for Jack Gibbens starting next to Kenneth Murray Week 1, so maybe I should expand this one to include Dr. Gibby. But, there’s a starting spot on the line this summer, and someone will have to rise up and take it.

JC Latham – It’s kind of like the Ridley argument for this list. The Titans needed a left tackle. They drafted Trench King. Box checked, right? Well, there’s still that whole matter of doing it on the field! The Titans offensive line play was atrocious, really, for the last two seasons. Now, it doesn’t take much to improve the unit, but the pressure is on Latham, under the tutelage of Bill Callahan, to develop into one of these 10-year cornerstone type of pieces. We’re already counting this need as resolved, but hey – there’s a reason they play the games. Latham has a lot on his shoulders this season.
