My Personal Fashion Manifesto

What we've waited nearly 11 years to get - Stoney Keeley's personal fashion manifesto.

If you guys missed the lead article this morning, I’m writing some stuff based on assignments I received on Twitter. It’s not that I get writer’s block or anything…I just get burnt out sometimes. “Too tired to think,” as many jokingly say…but it’s real for me sometimes. I didn’t feel like scouring the web for stories, so I asked you guys! One request I got was to teach the masses about my sense of fashion.

I am happy to, fantasy account. You all might say, “don’t you dare, Stoney. You know nothing about fashion.” While I’d say you’re right in the sense that I, personally, don’t conform to traditional standards of fashion, I’d also say fashion is subjective. I believe the man makes the clothes. Contrary to popular belief, the clothes don’t make the man.

To me, fashion is more about comfort and confidence…specifically, how the two intertwine. I’m pretty comfortable in my own skin. I have a healthy sense of self-confidence, and for me, that means that I don’t feel a need to dress to the nines every time I leave the house. It’s not a knock on people who do enjoy dressing fashionably…I’m of the opinion that you should dress however you want to make you feel empowered. I am just as valuable in my ripped up shorts that is one more stretch away from showing half an ass cheek to everyone at the Wal-Mart as I am in my khakis. So, there definitely is an element of carelessness to my appearance. If I’m comfortable, I won’t be as on edge though. If you ever encounter me in a formal setting, where I’ve had to put on shoes and a shirt with buttons on it, you may notice that I seem a little reserved. That’s why. I’m uncomfortable! It also hurts to be built like a Roblox avatar with a beer gut…I can’t even find nice shirts that fit me well.

Instead, I opt for a steady rotation of t-shirts that allow me to express myself. I have a few pretty stupid ones that I love. And, I love a good Hawaiian shirt. People don’t rock those as well anymore. I’m careful to avoid teetering across the old man line with those. No, I’m looking for more “drinks rum and passes out on the beach” Hawaiian shirts. I want people to look at me and instantly know, “yeah, that dude’s a writer.” But, the bottom line is that I want clothes that make me feel empowered to be myself. That’s the spirit we all should seek. If Joseph A. Banks makes you feel that way, then wear your suits every day. If an old Alabama volleyball t-shirt from Goodwill makes you feel that way, then wear that shit out. The important thing, in my opinion, to remember about fashion is that it’s an expression of who you are. And, as long as that mirrors your authentic self, you’re going to look good. Now, if you specifically want to take a look at my fashion profile, I’ve put that together for you all too. Cheers.

The Fashion Profile of Stoney Keeley

For special occasions, I will wear the same exact shirt for every one of them. I did recently get a new sports coat though…which I also intend to wear whenever I need to wear something other than a t-shirt or hoodie.

Most days, you will find me just lounging around in a hoodie and some sweats or gym shorts. I might be enjoying a glass of fine chardonnay every once in awhile as well.

In the summer time, I live in shorts and flip flops. To appropriately set the tone for a fun and festive gathering, I will put a fun shirt on over a tank top or sleeveless t-shirt.

And then there’s that one time I put on the Tik Tok leggings.
