It’s been a long hard road to get here, but folks, we finally made it. There is a legit football game to break down tomorrow night between the Tennessee Titans and the San Francisco 49ers, and while you may scoff at that, I implore you to go take a look at the 49ers depth chart and tell me it won’t be a good barometer of where this team is at right now. I’ve thrown together a list of a few guys I’m excited to watch play.
Guys to Watch: 49ers at Titans, 8/10/24
Jaylen Harrell – Harrell has a tremendous opportunity in front of him. With the looming suspension of Arden Key, and the Titans being quiet on the free agent front to this point, there’s a chance for someone to step up and claim a role. Harrell’s camp has been good. He’s drawn praise from Brian Callahan and the media in attendance alike. Now’s the time to put that into practice in a game setting.
Nicholas Petit-Frere – I’m sure he won’t play more than a drive or two, but I haven’t been out to Titans practice, so until I see it with my own two eyes, I will simply not believe that Ojukwumania is dead.
Jha’Quan Jackson – Really interesting to see Jackson’s place on the depth chart when it came out earlier this week. He had some buzz going for him earlier on in the summer, but it seems the hype train is cooling off a bit, and now Jackson finds himself behind Mason Kinsey in the pecking order.
Andrew Rupcich – Rupcich has been a steady fringe-53 guy in the past. Now, he’s got an opportunity to make the new look right guard battle look a little more interesting. He split reps with Dillon Radunz with the ones on Wednesday, but it sounds like it might’ve just been for the coaching staff to get a look at what they had with the guy as Radunz got all of the first team reps on Thursday. Still, I’m interested to see if he can make the most of this opportunity.
Cedric Gray – What the hell is up with Cedric Gray? Has anyone heard anything about him this summer? I know he’s dealing with a shoulder issue, but hopefully, he’ll be able to get on the field some so we can all see how he’s looking.
James Williams – People are saying Williams is thumping at camp so far. I want to see him knock a guy’s head off Saturday night.
Isaiah Iton – I’m a fan of Iton’s traits, and I think there’s an opening for a depth spot along the defensive line. Iton’s tape is inconsistent, but he has the measurables to be a player. One of the fun “my guys” to watch this preseason.
