I love a good ghost story – who doesn’t? Apparently, Los Angeles Dodges right fielder Mookie Betts. I missed this story a year ago, but Betts would not stay at a Milwaukee hotel because of the myriad of haunted stories permeating the air there. Heading back to Milwaukee this season, he’s sticking to his guns and won’t be staying at that hotel yet again.
#Dodgers back in Milwaukee and Mookie Betts is still not staying at the allegedly haunted Pfister Hotel with the team. “No. That ain’t going to change”

There’s a full write-up here courtesy of USA Today. The story goes on to mention that Betts doesn’t necessarily believe in ghosts, but wanted to take the precaution just in case they are. He elaborated on that by saying the last time he stayed in the hotel, he couldn’t sleep because every noise he heard in the middle of the night reminded him of those ghost stories.
People might want to pile on the guy here, but I say he’s a smart man! It’s like I always tell my wife…what’s the one thing you can do…the one thing that you can control that will assure that you will never be eaten by a shark? Don’t go in the ocean. Don’t want to run into a ghost? Maybe don’t go to the haunted hotel! So, I don’t blame the guy one bit. Y’all can laugh and make fun of him, but don’t discredit the importance of a good night’s sleep for a professional athlete. Do what you gotta do, Mookie. Personally, I think this is the right approach towards any type of haunted venue.
