Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…

This edition of the SoBros Mailbag is brought to you by Memo’s Mexican Kitchen in Mount Juliet, Tennessee! Memo’s offers a fresh, modern take on the Mexican restaurant just a mile north of I-40 off of the Mount Juliet exit. For my money, they cook up the best quesabirria in town! Check out the full menu on their website and let ’em know SoBros Network sent you.

Question:

Answer:

So, I totally misread this at first as “favorite poem in poetry,” which seemed weird to me. Why wouldn’t you just ask me for my favorite poem? Anyway, I looked it up and I wanted to share it anyway – “Song of Myself” by Walt Whitman:

The past and present wilt—I have fill’d them, emptied them.
And proceed to fill my next fold of the future.

Listener up there! what have you to confide to me?
Look in my face while I snuff the sidle of evening,
(Talk honestly, no one else hears you, and I stay only a minute longer.)

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)

I concentrate toward them that are nigh, I wait on the door-slab.

Who has done his day’s work? who will soonest be through with his supper?
Who wishes to walk with me?

Will you speak before I am gone? will you prove already too late?

Then, I re-read your question and realized I was the dumb one for not being able to read. I picked up a copy of Leaves of Grass by Whitman in college and it immediately became one of my favorite books ever. I’m also a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe if you couldn’t tell by my meathead parody of “The Raven” in that book. So, since I’ve shoe-horned that in, now I’ll answer your ACTUAL question, Goody.

As for MY work, I think “Caraway” means the most to me as something I wrote about what I feel when visiting my father’s grave. But, I really like “Folding Timelines” and “Flying Standby” too. Also, if you’re interested in buying a copy or getting one for your Kindle, pick one up on Amazon.

Question:

Answer:

This is a tough one – mac and cheese is a great answer…I feel like that’s that one side dish that no matter where I’m at, if I’m having trouble deciding on what I want, that’s what I land on and that’s an endearing quality. When I think of any mood, any situation, any reason, or any season, I think I land on pad Thai. It’s the one thing that I think I can eat any time my wife brings it up. I’ve never once heard “let’s go to the Thai restaurant,” and thought “naaahhh I’m not really feeling it.”

Question:

Answer:

As long as you don’t play in the NFL, Uncle Madd!

Question:

Answer:

Yeah, this is like the Riddler “does he know?” meme come to life. I mean, given that he’s a man of that size and moves as well as he does, I’m not telling him to do anything. But, I’m with you, Travis….seems like that is not a great move to make.

Question:

Answer:

You tell me, pal! I’ve never seen it!
