Buy or Sell: 2-0 NFL Teams

There's a gaggle of teams sitting at 2-0 in the NFL - Stoney tries to sort through who's a contender and who's a pretender.

We’re two weeks in, and yes, we’re making bold predictions based on that small sample size. Hell, why not? This is the exact type of shit we’re supposed to write about in the sports media world. Let’s flip through these 2-0 teams and I’ll let you know if I’m buying or selling them as longterm contenders this season.

Buy or Sell: 2-0 NFL Teams

Buffalo Bills – I was not that high on the Bills prior to the season starting, and predicted the window would close on them this year. That might not happen just by virtue of the division they’re playing in. Buy.

Houston Texans – While I don’t think the Texans have been particularly impressive as a whole, I do trust the coaching staff in place, and I trust the talent they have. Watching CJ Stroud distribute the ball is a thing of beauty. His placement and timing are damn near perfect. They’ll eventually jell and kick things up a notch. Buy.

Kansas City Chiefs – I mean, come on….why wouldn’t you buy the back-to-back reigning and defending Super Bowl champions? Buy.

Los Angeles Chargers – While the defense is playing a lot better than I would’ve figured before the season started, you have to take the level of competition into account. The Panthers are terrible and the Raiders aren’t exactly awe-inspiring. This is a team that still has questions as to who is going to be making plays on offense. Sell.

Minnesota Vikings – I want to root for Sam Darnold. I really do. But, man…something about this 2-0 start just feels like Cinderella, and the clock’s going to strike midnight at some point. Sell.

New Orleans Saints – Derek Carr for MVP? Look, in all seriousness, we know 40+ points per game isn’t sustainable, but I’m giving the Saints some love because big Taliese Fuaga is wrecking dudes out there, and now that they’ve fixed the left side of that offensive line, they might make some noise in a winnable division. Buy.

Pittsburgh Steelers – I don’t want to buy the Steelers because they are the most sicko team of this bunch. That defense is going to keep them in games, and it just might keep Mike Tomlin’s streak going. But, the lack of electricity on offense caps this team’s ceiling. Sell.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – It’s time to put some respect on Baker Mayfield’s name. He’s been extremely efficient and seems to have found a permanent home in Tampa Bay. Hiring Liam Coen as OC could prove fruitful. This defensive line is nasty to boot. The NFC South is going to be fun. Buy.

Seattle Seahawks – This Seahawks team is awfully grimy, but they’ve struggled to put away two vastly inferior opponents, and their division looks like it’ll be as competitive as ever. Sell.
