Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…

This edition of the SoBros Mailbag is brought to you by Memo’s Mexican Kitchen in Mount Juliet, Tennessee! Memo’s offers a fresh, modern take on the Mexican restaurant just a mile north of I-40 off of the Mount Juliet exit. For my money, they cook up the best quesabirria in town! Check out the full menu on their website and let ’em know SoBros Network sent you.

Question:

Answer:

Eddie, I’m a big fan of Vanderbilt’s 2-0 start. I had Virginia Tech listed as a dark horse playoff team heading into the 2024 season, so I was beyond impressed by that big win. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that they’ve average 44.5 points per game on offense! Who knew?!! Vanderbilt, the fireworks show (or lack thereof if they score enough). Vanderbilt did receive 18 votes for the AP Top 25, but didn’t make the cut obviously. I definitely think they could beat Northern Illinois, and that they could hang with Boston College, so I’ll at least give ’em #25.

And, I know we’re just having fun here, but when you have some draft guys talking about a position change to running back, I don’t think we’re talking about a guy who has high hopes in the NFL. Am I still going to watch the tape and evaluate him? Sure. But, I don’t think he’s going to be rescuing any franchises in 2025. He’s too raw in the passing aspect of playing quarterback. But, I do think he’s a gamer and can lead the ‘Dores to a surprisingly prolific season.

Question:

Answer:

Offense, Ed! It’s offense! By the way, I am so happy that people are wanting to talk about Vandy football again. When’s the last time it’s been this exciting to be a Dores fan?

Question:

Answer:

No way, Skylar! Not at all – I’m still on that bandwagon. This team has some really good bones about it. There were some flashes of Brian Callahan’s vision with this offensive scheme being great. They were just masked by boneheaded decisions from Will Levis, lapses in chemistry between he and his receivers, and/or protection issues from the offensive line. If they clean those things up, they can get rolling! On defense, this already looks like an elite unit. Week 1 was bad….to be frank, it was bad enough to raise questions about Levis’ viability as a longterm franchise quarterback. But, you hope it’s just one game, and the team moves on. We can revisit the conversation in a few weeks, but there’s no reason to jump ship now.

Keep the questions coming – catch y’all next week!
