It’s one of my favorite traditions here at SoBros Network. Every Spooky Season, we get together for a special live stream. Sure, it’s usually a little later into the month, but life happens! We had to do it a little earlier this year. Nonetheless, I couldn’t think of a better film from 2003’s slate of horror to talk about than the reboot/remake/re-whatever of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I know this is a pretty polarizing film, but I have to say…I’m with Brittany. If I’m choosing which movie to watch, especially during Spooky Season, I’m picking this one over the original every time. The original is a classic, and I know many consider it to be the greatest horror film of all time – no gripes there – but this one just feels more guttural…more visceral…and I think it makes it more intense and a little scarier.
In any event, I certainly don’t think it’s as bad as the critics and the original loyalists would have you believe. This is a gritty, in-your-face horror film that stands the test of time to me. To make the Texas Chainsaw Massacre cocktail, you’ll need:
-1/2oz whiskey
-3/4oz honey simply syrup
-7oz red sparkling wine
-raspberries
Directions:
-Heat one part water and one part honey in a small saucepan over medium heat for 5-10 minutes.
-Pour 1/2oz of whiskey into a tall glass followed by 3/4oz of honey simple syrup and then 7oz of red sparkling wine.
-Rub some raspberries around the rim of the glass.
