Reviewing Pro Wrestling Symphony’s “Undeniable”

Outspoken Owen recaps all of the action from Pro Wrestling Symphony's 'Undeniable'

On Sunday, March 8th, Pro Wrestling Symphony held their “Undeniable” event, featuring the conclusion of the tournament to crown their first women’s champion.

Vibes were high at Eastside Bowl, and just as I walked into the venue and grabbed a Tennessee Brew Works “Hippies & Cowboy”, a preliminary match was announced, and Alex Monroe beat Joshua “The Wolf” Himes with a jumping cutter. This show’s feature musical act was Hex Proof, “a hybrid strain of acoustic, alternative punk and in-your-face rock music” that I absolutely vibed with.

Our first match of the main card looked to resolve one side of the semi-finals of the championship tournament saw Kaia McKenna use her witch magic to pin Nixi XS. We then saw Freya The Slaya take on Jazzy Yang. Freya was accompanied by Sigrid and used a hot start and absolute power to get the win. “The Queen of The North” is a true powerhouse.

Crowd favorite Alejandro came out to announce that his opponent, Shane Mercer, was not going to be there, and as disappointed as I was to miss another Moon Assault & Battery, my dismay was quickly dismissed as soon as it was announced that Alejandro would instead be competing in a scramble match, with competitors Damon Stryker, Brian Hitt and Ray Bruce. Now look, I’ll go ahead and throw my personal bias out there, I think Ray Bruce is a standout talent, with his giant stature only being matched by his great big personality. Ray’s a spectacle to watch, and I highly suggest you see him when you can. Alejandro pulled out the win in this fast paced, engaging scramble.

When Tim Bosby and Dylan Hales came out for the next match in matching purple warm up suits, Millennials throughout the building began making Dodgeball references. If anyone’s ready for a hostile crowd, it’s Dylan Hales, who amplified the animosity with a seething promo. Bosby took on Clarksville’s own Adrian Thomas. Bosby is a true technician, and I feel that this was a great style-fit match with Thomas’ MMA background. “The Crocodile” pulled off a win with a frog splash, and I’m sure Mr. Hales will have plenty to say about Bosby’s back-to-back losses the next time we see the duo.

Before we went on intermission, it was announced that at the next show on April 11th at the East Nashville Beer Fest that Pro Wrestling Symphony tag team champions would be crowned. Hexproof came back out and did a wild cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic”. This is Hexproof’s second time performing at a Symphony show, and I hope they play again.

Coming off of intermission we had a qualifying match for the tag title tournament, as Jake Painter continued on his search to find a tag team partner he wouldn’t immediately turn on, this time teaming with Javen Myra against Royal Prestige. Lemme tell ya, smug as he is, Painter loves handing out a variety of backbreakers that make for a fun watch. However, Alejandro would make his return to ringside for no other reason to screw Painter over, as Royal Prestige hit a double team move on Myra and picked up the win, advancing in the tournament.

At the previous show, Colby Carter won the tournament to become the first men’s champion, and no time was wasted in booking a title defense. The Code’s challenger would be “World Class” Channing Thomas, who’s brazen and brash cockiness played the perfect antithesis for someone as popular and at-home as Colby. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and Colby retained to the crowd’s delight.

It was finally main event time, and as Freya The Slaya made her way to the ring, you knew Sigrid wasn’t going to be far behind. Kaia McKenna wasn’t going to let the numbers advantage happen, as she was accompanied by WNSR’s “Crazy” Charlie Saunier, who one show prior was clocked in the back of the head and choked out by Sigrid. With all these combustible elements, it didn’t take long for this match to fall into utter chaos. Sigrid and Charlie were both ejected from the ringside area, only to return and have a full on hockey fight. Freya’s power was once again the deciding factor, and she won the match and the women’s championship. Freya has consistently put on high quality matches in her time with the Symphony, and I’m looking forward to what her reign holds for her.

Pro Wrestling Symphony’s next show will be April 11th, at the East Nashville Beer Fest. They will be cross-promoting this show with Action Wrestling and TWE Chattanooga. I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this, as well as the PWS crew for their hospitality. As always, I beg of you, get out of the house and go catch some live pro rasslin near you!
