I don’t know why, but I’ve been on a bit of a Sofia Coppola kick lately. I think it’s me trying to understand why Lost in Translation can be one of my favorite films that I’ve ever seen, yet everything else I’ve seen from Coppola has frustrated me to no end. Don’t get me wrong – there’s a certain cadence, flow, and certainly style to everything Coppola does. But, man…some of these slow burn stories are just more style than substance in my book. Yet, I keep giving film after film a chance…it’s almost like it just doesn’t hit my palate and I should accept that. But, no…I have to get in the complete filmography first. Nonetheless, Brandon and I were talking not too long ago about Coppola. I realized I had never seen The Virgin Suicides. And, here we are – talking about it on the latest episode of Movie Review Rewind. That’s how it happens sometimes.
