I am always here for a good old fashioned chase. Doesn’t have to be in vehicles like on Cops or some thrilling scene from the Fast and Furious franchise – actually, I dare say the chases on foot are actually more captivating. They’re far more intimate, right? We get to know our characters a little bit because we can see their faces and their demeanor. We can watch their actions unfold and learn in real time how their brain is processing what is happening. Not to mention, there’s a myriad of ways that a chase on foot can go – you see people hopping fences, running off into the woods, hiding out behind peoples houses, on roofs…all kinds of crazy shit! A car chase can only end in a couple of ways, and one of them is really depressing. So, who wants that? I’m all for the chase on foot – though, I will mention that every once in awhile we get the rare double whammy during which someone will be chased down in a car to a point they can no longer continue driving, and then they’ll get out and take off on foot. That’s some high drama right there.
And, that brings us to the viral video we’re going to break down today. It’s just a good old fashioned drunk dude getting chased down on foot, probably for doing something dumb, and these cops just can’t seem to get the angle on this little rascal.

Wow – the whole time I’m watching this thinking, “there’s no way he’s going to get away.” And what happens? He gets away. I mean, yeah – I’m sure he’s gang tackled like 10 seconds later. But, in the moment, that has to feel like a mic drop right. The ultimate point-in-your-face-and-laugh moment. Cue up the Benny Hill music! This kid was juking those cops like LaDainian Tomlinson in his prime. I love the concerned gasp at the beginning of this clip, too – “dude, he is not okay…” Yeah, no shit. This guy ate concrete and just about twisted his damn shoulder out of its socket trying to use the rail to pull himself up. Right after that, he tumbles over the other rail and firmly plants his teeth in the dirt. Just unreal stuff that these cops weren’t able to truck stick this guy when they had him dead to rights. That’s a slippery slippery fella.
Nonetheless, the fact that this guy wasn’t tackled immediately makes for a hell of a M. Night Shyamalan twist on this video. Salute to all involved.
