We've Got A Good Old-Fashioned Granny Gun Fight Down at the Wal-Mart

Famed country band, Little Texas, once sang, “God blessed Texas,” and boy, oh boy where they right or what?! Welcome to the Lone Star state.

Courtesy of FOX News“A fight between two grandmothers landed one in jail and the other in the hospital.

Police say Janice Brown, 53, met a woman in a Walmart parking lot in Pleasant Grove on Sunday night to exchange custody of their grandchild.

There was an argument between the two grandmas and brown shot the other woman in the neck.

An off duty officer saw Brown with the gun and the two exchanged gunfire, but no one was hurt.

Brown is now charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.”

For those of you who have ever wondered how much impact two grannies could possibly generate in a fight (I’ve admittedly thought about this at a disturbing rate), you have your answer: one goes to jail, one goes to the hospital.

Really, Janice here is absolutely ruthless. Going straight for the neck? Ugh. Brutal move – that means she was out for blood. She wasn’t just looking to make a statement. She was looking to eradicate the other granny from the face of the Earth.

When it says ‘exchanged gunfire,’ y’know – I could just use some clarification, because I’m picturing this ordeal going down like a duel. Ten paces and you turn around and shoot. There are so many follow up questions, though. Where was the kid in all of this? Just watching from the backseat of Mami’s Pontiac Firebird? This is how kids grow up to start gun fights in parking lots, by the way. What was the argument over? What could have possibly gotten these two women so heated that they defaulted to pulling out guns and firing away?

But, you know – 53 doesn’t really fit the bill as a grandmother to me. Maybe technically, she’s a grandma, and I get it – it’s 2016, people are having babies at 12 and those babies are having babies at 11, and so we’re getting grandparents that are 23 years old. That’s how things work in this day and age of science and progress. But, does that really constitute a “granny?” I don’t know. When I hear ‘granny,’ my brain automatically goes to ‘elderly.’

I think calling this a granny gun fight is a bit misleading.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, everyone involved will always remember that fateful day when the Pleasant Grove Wal-Mart turned into the OK Corral.
