The SoBros Network’s Halloween Movie Night Guide

So, last year, we ranked our top 10 Halloween movies. But, it’s hard to believe there was only five of us at this time in 2016. Things have changed quite a bit, and we’re adapting to the times. Instead of just recalculating here, we’ve decided to throw a wrinkle in our annual Halloween movie piece. This year, we’re going to offer up a ‘Halloween Movie Night’ for you guys to enjoy. Some of the selections include time-honored classics, but we’ve also thrown in a couple of the classics.

Fun and Festive

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble – According to Rubber Rooster, this movie is all we need on our list. So, why should we even continue, right?

Hocus Pocus – To quote Jonas Brotherly, “this is the Home Alone of Halloween movies.” This one was ranked #1 on our list of Halloween movies last year, and it holds true. It showed up on Ralph and Jonas’ lists as well this year. An all-time classic.

Monster House – Brandon and myself consider this one of the quintessential Halloween movies. In my opinion, it’s like the Polar Express of Halloween.

The Addams Family – Brandon going outside the box with this recommendations, but I dig it. It’s one of those flicks that isn’t mentioned among the usual Halloween classics, but deserves consideration.

Scary as Shit

Halloween – It’s the quintessential Halloween movie, right?! This is another one of the few movies that just about all of the SoBros mentioned. It’s the place to start.

Nightmare on Elm Street – Jonas recommends this one, as it features one of the most iconic horror characters of all time. Perfect for this time of year.

Jeepers Creepers – Jonas Brotherly keeps bringing the classics. “A brother and sister driving home through isolated countryside for spring break encounter a flesh-eating creature which is in the midst of its ritualistic eating spree.”IMDB

V/H/S – Another one from Jonas, but I actually had to hit up IMDB for this one: “When a group of misfits are hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for.”

Cabin in the Woods – Some high praise for this flick, coming from Ralph Wiggum:

It is -the- best horror movie I’ve ever seen by miles. It exists on about 100 levels… it’s all built upon references to horror / legend / other movies. You should check it out spoiler free, and just go in knowing you have to pay attention to detail. ‘Cause I’ve seen it twice, then a documentary highlighting everything I missed, then a 3rd time.

The Conjuring – Brandon recommends this one. Per IMDB, “Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.”

Paranormal Activity – Probably one of the most terrifying flicks I’ve read about in a long, long time. That’s right – read about it. I wouldn’t dare watch this movie, but Brandon says you should.

And, there’s nowhere to classify this but Ralph also highly recommends Tucker and Dale vs. Evil for this holiday.
