I’ve never planned a wedding. But, I hear terrible, terrible things. It’s just a nightmare of swimming in minutiae. Making sure every ‘t’ is dotted and ‘i’ is crossed if you know what I’m saying. I figure planning the venue is one of the most important aspects of it, right? Again, I wouldn’t know. But, if you’re looking for an outside-the-box option for your wedding venue, apparently you can book the ol’ Wal-Mart right down the street!
A Pennsylvania couple transformed the garden center in a Walmart into their dream wedding venue.
Chrissy Slonaker Torres and Leida Torres tied the knot at the Walmart in West Manchester Township, Pennsylvania where they both work.
More than 100 family members, co-workers, and customers attended the wedding.
In order to make sure their co-workers could attend the wedding, they brought the ceremony to them.
You know what? That sounds a lot nicer than I thought it would when I read the article. Thought this was going to be about some crazy rednecks infatuated with Wal-Mart. But, nope – as it turns out, these two beautiful souls sacrificed their wedding ceremony so that those they love dearly could share their special day with them.
It really brings a single tear to my eye.
But, man – back to the real journalism – who would have ever thought you could do this? I mean, this has to be the hip, cutting edge of what’s trendy, right? I can definitely see this catching on.
Remember when making your prom dress out of duct tape was a thing? Or, Valentine’s Day at the Waffle House? Well, folks – I’m here to tell you. Weddings at Wal-Mart is about to skyrocket in popularity. And, really – it makes sense. Think about it. You can get virtually anything you’d ever need from a Wal-Mart. It’s like a brick and mortar Amazon (ouch – bet that one hurt ol’ Sam Walton).
So, why wouldn’t you be able to get a wedding there just like you’d pick up your prescription or a bag of socks?
