Let’s Revisit Eddie Gilbert Running Over Jerry Lawler

I have no context for this. I don’t know why this happened or what it was building to, but ffs, it’s pro wrestling. You don’t question things that happen in pro wrestling anymore. You just accept that it is what it is and you roll with it. This clip of Eddie Gilbert running over Jerry Lawler just scrolled across my Twitter feed, and I thought it was too perfect not to share.

I can already hear the hardos out there, yelling “how do you fake gettin’ hit by a car?!!”

Man, I love how ridiculous pro wrestling makes everyday life look sometimes. Like, most people would see a car speeding towards them and leap OUT of the way. But, not if you’re a wrestler! Every wrestler walking this Earth knows that if you see a car careening towards you, you have to leap into the air and put your back on the windshield. Roll up the car and out over it to avoid serious injury.

Gotta give it to Lawler on this one – he absolutely ate it. Gilbert just goes for it. Honestly, that attitude is what makes it look so effective and authentic. You just might have to deal with a potential assault/murder charge later. But, in the moment, hot damn – that looks good.

He hits him so hard my disbelief is absolutely suspended. I’m watching that thinkin’ Lawler’s going to need a new damn pair of kidneys. He about knocked him out of his mop top.

If he wasn’t wearing those dad sneakers, there’s no way he could’ve had the ups to get over the hood as fast as Gilbert was driving that thing. He about ended up with two legs that fold the way they ain’t supposed to fold.

Regardless, this has to be the G.O.A.T. getting-hit-by-a-car clip in wrestling history, and the fact that there are multiple ones to choose from is just a testament to how damn cool pro wrestling is.
