BLP: Adventures in Wrestling Recap

I can’t believe it’s already been a week y’all. Wow. Well, this time last Friday we were recovering from a night out while getting ready for “Adventures in Wrestling.” We were all looking forward to this show for various reasons so that even Brett Ison decided to hop in our Lyft…this made Stoney fearful. So fearful that he dipped out of the shared ride through the back hatch, then hid in a dumpster out back of White Eagle Hall. All of this means we had an extra ticket so Brett scored again! After verifying Stoney’s safety, it was time for BLP to kick all the asses.

BLP Heavyweight Championship (Street Fight): Ethan Page (c) vs. Kobe Durst- Page is out first with every intention of killing Kobe before he’s attacked by Durst who snuck in through the crowd. Both men are out in jeans meaning all hell is gonna break loose…which it did. Punishment was dealt out with the highlight being a nasty powerbomb from the second rope through a door courtesy of “All Ego.”

Jake Lander and Tre Lamar hit the help out Kobe. Ethan fights them all off but eventually Kobe is able to take advantage with a piledriver on to a chair to snag the title. #AndNew.

IWTV Independent Wrestling Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Bryan Alvarez- This got off to a hot start as someone yelled that Alvarez’s Twitter sucked which made us all crack up. Orange Cassidy is living art and he had the crowd at every show completely invested in what he was doing.

Alvarez seemed annoyed that Cassidy refused to take his hands out of his pockets, so he taped OC’s arms securing said hands in pockets. After so many chops, it looked like Cassidy may fight back before getting his own juice tossed in his eyes. When all seemed lost for OC, the beautiful sounds of Pat Benatar hit with everyone, including Alvarez, expecting Marko Stunt. In perfect Cassidy timing, he rolls up Alvarez to retain his championship.

Sadkampf (Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku) vs. Tank and Manny Fernandez- It didn’t take Tank long to start stabbing someone with a fork out of retirement.

I mean, we knew this was gonna get crazy, but goddamn I didn’t expect ‘skewers to the ass’ crazy. Oh you missed that? Yeah Tank stuck skewers in Ku’s ass. He also attempted to skewer Dom’s bare feet before Garrini could get the fuck out of dodge.

This match was essentially Tank/Manny fucking Sadkampf up in all types of variety. I honestly don’t think they were ever looking for a pin fall they just wanted to dish out all the pain. Out of nowhere, Ku gets the win for the team after catching Tank in a small package. Post match, Tank/Manny continued to fuck up Sadkampf until they’d had their fill. One of my favorite matches of the weekend.

Nick Gage vs. Swoggle- This was a goddamn brawl. Swoggle came out ready to fight even setting up two chairs in the ring for a good ole fashioned bar fight. After exchanging blows for a minute, Swoggle ate a spine buster before the two started scrapping on the outside. PB Smooth showed up to help out Swoggle, though he ended up eating a fireball thanks to a run in from a beloved GCW cohort of Gage. When things were even again, Gage fucked Swoggle up with a choke breaker then two piledrivers. This was A LOT of fun to experience live.

Million Dollar Battle Royal- This has a ton of fun stuff but the biggest stories coming out where: O’Shay Edwards and Maria Manic fucking shit up and Allie Kat becoming a millionaire. The majority of the match belonged to Shay and Maria as the two were hurling people over the top rope with ill intent. Shay kept reminding Maria of all his eliminations which brought a smile to our faces. Finally though, Manic eliminates The Big Bad Kaiju with a sheer act of strength. Give me these two one on one or have them form an un-godly tag team. Either way, you got my money.

After Manic gets eliminated, it become the Allie Kat show. Allie claws her way through the completion and secures her pay day with a “Pussy Piledriver” on the apron to eliminate Danny Adams. I can only imagine the packages from Chewy that are gonna start appearing outsider her Kat door.

Curt Stallion, Gary Jay, CW Anderson and AJ Gray vs. Jake Parnell, Chris Dickinson, Rory Gulak and Daniel Makabe- CW and Daniel Makabe were surprise entrants in this match, which got us all kinds of fired up. Didn’t take long for this to break down with action all over the damn place. AJ gets the win for his team after a nasty lariat. Just want to add that Curt Stallion is a treasure. His in ring reactions are absolutely top notch.

Jordynne Grace, Kylie Rae, Nicole Savoy, Samantha Heights and Solo Darling vs. Shazza McKenzie, Charli Evans, Jessica Troy, Indi Hartwell and Zoe Lucas- Man, this was fun. This built for a while with all ladies hitting gnarly shit on one another. There was a HUGE dive sequence that, by the time everyone hit, it looked like half the crowd went down. Great showcase for everyone involved as Grace gets the pin with a pump handle driver.

BLP Tag Team Championship: Space Pirates (Space Monkey and Shane Sabre) vs. The Besties in the World (Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett) vs. Sammy Guevara and Robbie Eagles-This match can be summed up pretty easily as a big time free for all. There was so much going on that it feels like a blur. The Space Pirates retain in a madhouse of a match thanks to some nifty work from Shane Sabre. This was the first time I was able to catch Robbie live and he did not disappoint.

Jonathan Gresham vs. Shigehiro Irie- God I loved this. The story told of Gresham trying to slow the tank that Irie is had me going from the jump. Anytime it appeared that Gresham may finally have the upper hand we would see Irie fire back like the beast that he is. Irie would go on to hit a couple of cannonballs in the corner that had us worrying for Gresham’s well being. Thankfully, he’s the fucking guy and he threw everything he had, including his person, at Irie.

It looked like Gresham was gonna get the win thanks to a shooting star from the top but it was only good for two. Irie took back over as he nearly pounced Gresham out of the ring but all still for no finish. Finally, JG sinks in a sleeper on Irie that he will not relinquish. Beast Mode goes out and Jonathan Gresham gets a HUGE win.

If you twisted my arm, I would say this show or the AIW show was my favorite from the weekend. Great matches, pacing, and storytelling plus some good old fashioned violence will forever and always put a smile on my face.

Big ups to the Black Label Pro crew for giving us a damn fine Mania Weekend show! BLP will be running again on April 20th in South Bend, IN with “Player’s Brawl.”

An Ode to Wal-Mart Candles

This might be controversial among the candle community, but Stoney is going to show some love to the candles at Wal-Mart today.
