NFL Power Rankings: Week 9 2019

Welcome in to a new feature we are trying out here on SoBros Network because we were recently approved to be on Google News (YUGE win, LFG), and I am testing whether or not it’s worth doing these sorts of power rankings for the SEO. Yes, that’s the entire basis for this set of NFL Power Rankings.

For me, it’s pretty simple. I’m just looking at wins and losses, and I’m looking at the eye test to determine my top 10 teams in the NFL each week. LFG.

NFL POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 9 2019

1. New England Patriots (7-0) – The Patriots continue to steamroll a weak AFC after frustrating the Browns for a 27-13 win. They’re playing great defense, arguably the best defense in the NFL, and they’re simply imposing their will on their opponents. I give ’em the edge over the 49ers because of experience. The Pats will face their toughest test of the season thus far when they travel to play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.

2. San Francisco 49ers (6-0) – Just when I was ready to call the Carolina Panthers a dark horse Super Bowl contender, Kyle Shanahan comes in and big dicks the hell out of Ron Rivera, 51-13. That was ugly, folks. If the Pats aren’t playing the best defense in the NFL right now, the 49ers are. They’re traveling to play the Arizona Cardinals tonight on Thursday Night Football.

3. Green Bay Packers (7-1) – Big time gutsy win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Aaron Jones and Aaron Rodgers are starting to make sweet sweet beautiful music together, and if Rodgers continues to heat up, watch out San Francisco. These Packers could be coming for the throne – they’re playing the Chargers in Los Angeles this week.

4. New Orleans Saints (7-1) – The Saints make it to their bye week having traversed the loss of Drew Brees for the bulk of the season successfully. He’s back and they’re beatin’ teams 31-9. That’s a decent Cardinals team, too. Outside of dominant performances against the Cowboys and Jags, though, I’m a little concerned about how that defense would hold up against Aaron Rodgers or Kyle Shanahan. Hence dropping ’em behind those two NFC teams.

5. Minnesota Vikings (6-2) – When you hear ‘the Minnesota Vikings,’ you probably think defense, right? And, hell yeah – that’s a top five defense. But, believe it or not, they’re leading the NFL in total yards on offense with 3,172! This is a complete and well-balanced team. There are about six legitimate NFC Championship contenders in the conference this season, and the Vikings are definitely one of ’em.

6. Seattle Seahawks (6-2) – I know you can’t hope for Russell Wilson miracles in every single game and expect to win, but man – this Seahawks team just finds ways to win. They survived a scare from a desperate Falcons team and play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.

7. Baltimore Ravens (5-2) – I like the way this Ravens team plays football because they know exactly who they are. But, I’m interested to see how they stack up against the reigning Super Bowl champs. The Pats are very good against young signal-callers, but they haven’t played this quality of opponent all season. Something’s going to have to give.

8. Los Angeles Rams (5-3) – The Rams are scoring 30.5 PPG on their little two-game win streak, albeit against the Falcons and Bengals. After sliding for three games, it looks like they’re starting to correct course. Lest we forget, this team still holds victories over the Saints and Panthers.

9. Dallas Cowboys (4-3) – The Cowboys had a bye this week, and they’re gearing up for a Monday Night Football game at the New York Giants. Though they have the worst record in my power rankings, I still think this is a dangerous team with Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and Dak Prescott. Their biggest obstacle may simply be just how competitive the NFC is this year.

10. Buffalo Bills (5-2) – Lousy loss, and I’m just about ready to say it: The Bills are a mid-level team. They beat the teams they should, but they can’t beat the good ones. Luckily for them, the AFC largely sucks ass this year, and they still play really good defense. If they can turn it on when it counts, this team could very well make some noise.

CURRENT SUPER BOWL PREDICTION

Patriots over 49ers – Same as last week, but I’m starting to lean more towards the Packers in the NFC. This Niners team is historically good and far more talented than people give them credit for. Experience is my only concern, but I’ll be interested to see how San Francisco looks when the lights are on bright(er).

I’ll check back next week with a brand new edition of the NFL Power Rankings. LFG.
