I miss the great days of the past. Now, I’m not just talking about the recent past before the coronavirus reared its ugly head, but specifically the time before September 24, 1991.

You may be asking yourself, “what happened on that day?” Well friends, let me tell you. 9/24/1991 is the day music changed forever for me. Before that day, I was just a happy-go-lucky high school junior who had a deep love for hair bands. On that cool fall day, an album was released that crashed my happy little world. That album was Nevermind and the band was Nirvana.

Grunge was a new sound first out of Seattle that shook up the entire music industry and sent the sale of Aqua Net and fishnets spiraling. It took a few years, but I eventually came around to enjoy some of the music that became known as alternative, but nearly 30 years later I still HATE Nirvana.

Today’s playlist tugs at my heart strings as I remember fondly the junior high dances I went to and dancing to some of the great hair ballads of the 1980s. What a great simpler time it was.
