Hold up – before I get to the SoBros Super Bowl LV betting guide, let me try to find that copy from our Tank the 401k column – okay, here it is: Call your bookie and empty those retirement accounts (actually, don’t really do that – this is just sarcasm. Our lawyers say we shouldn’t claim to be experts on anything because we’re not)! Obviously, we’re not professionals here so take this advice with a grain of salt and don’t sue us if you piss all of your money away. That’s not our fault. Okay, I think we’re all set here.
Alright! Well, folks – if you’re anything like me, you could not possibly lose ENOUGH money during the regular season and now it’s time to toss whatever’s left in your account at Super Bowl LV. I’m going to share why I think about the key bets and offer up some of my favorite wagers for the big game on Sunday. Feel free to share your thoughts, and your favorite bets, in the comments. Let’s try and make some money, baby!
The SoBros Super Bowl LV Betting Guide
- The spread: Chiefs -3 – I hate this number, and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with it. I wouldn’t blame you if you sat this one out, and just dabbled in some props this weekend. But, I would also call you a coward. Gun to my head, I’m going to take the Bucs at +3. While I like Spags and the Chiefs secondary in this match-up, I’m just not going to bet against Brady getting this Super Bowl and really solidifying his self as the greatest of all time.
- The over/under: 55.5 – With rain in the forecast, this number has been bet down from 57. We know what these two offenses are capable of, and honestly, they could’ve made the total 100 and I would’ve bet the over. It’s the last game of the season, come on. Life’s too short to bet the under. FYI: The highest alternate point total you can get on FanDuel is 86.5 at +3600.
- Anytime TD scorer: Playoff Lenny – It’s my lock of the weekend. Just look at how the Bucs have leaned on Leonard Fournette throughout this entire postseason. I actually don’t hate him as an option to score 2+ touchdowns on Sunday.
- Tyreek Hill receiving yards: 94.5 – This one’s interesting. I talked to Allan Bell of CBS Sportsline about this specific bet (link to show below) because he mentioned on Twitter that at one point, 99.5% of the money was coming in on Hill hitting the over here. My gut reaction to that is “FUCK – THEY KNOW SOMETHING WE DON’T! BET THE UNDER!” But, if you think this one through, it actually makes sense – Hill is the type of guy that can go over a hundred yards on like three catches. So, the opportunity for big yardage is there.
- Darrel Williams rushing yards – 28.5 – I’d consider taking a flier on Williams hitting the over here, based on what the Chiefs coaching staff has to say about this guy. Andy Reid loves him, and has given him an opportunity to make plays. He contributes his previous lack of production to not being healthy, so since he’s good to go Sunday, I expect they’ll use him.
- Super Bowl MVP: Tom Brady – Look, it’s “safe” money, but you look at the Super Bowl MVP Award for what it is. It’s most likely going to be a quarterback award. While Mahomes is the favorite, Brady is available at +200 right now. Might not be a bad bet.
- Super Bowl MVP: Mike Evans – Maybe my mancrush on Evans is getting out of control, but I would not be surprised to see Evans take over this game. If he starts beating man coverage, the Chiefs will not be able to stop him and Brady will look his way every chance he gets.
- Super Bowl MVP: Tyrann Mathieu – If you’re looking for a long shot in the Super Bowl MVP discussion, I like Mathieu in this spot. If you listen to what the Chiefs defensive backs and Steve Spagnuolo have said this week, they understand that it’s going to take a big game from the secondary to win. It’s been called a “chess match” repeatedly, and Mathieu is the ultimate “chess piece” for this Chiefs defense. At +5000, roll the dice that this dude is all over the place on Sunday and comes up with a critical play or two to secure the win for the Chiefs.
- Anytime TD scorer: Mike Evans, Travis Kelce – I also like both of these guys in this spot because of how their respective offenses have leaned on them early as of late.
- Most rushing yards – Brady vs. Kelce – LOL, I’m not betting this, but FanDuel has a prop bet for who will have more rushing yards between Tom Brady and Travis Kelce.
- Either D/ST to score: It’s my “fuck it” bet of the weekend. I think the defenses ought to be a big part of each team’s game plan on Sunday, and they’re both playing opportunistic football at this point. The secondaries will play a huge role in this game. Bucs CB Sean Murphy-Bunting has an interception in every game this postseason. That Chiefs secondary is dangerous with the ball in their hands. If balls are popped up in the air, and the DBs in this game come down with them, finding themselves with the ball in their hands and open space around them, watch out. FanDuel has this bet at +220.
