GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS
3 out of 5 stars
The roars are loud and the stomps shake the ground, but those boring humans take up more screen time than the king himself and when the fighting does go down – it’s a little lackluster. Add no humor to it and we got problems. As far as human emotion, it exists within the kaiju destruction, but the characters say and do dumb things. How about just showing more of Godzilla kicking ass?! That’s what we all came here for damn it!
Giving up on this beast battling summer blockbuster is hard to do however as we’re willing to forgive and forget when we witness some spectacular scenes with jaw-dropping special effects that unearths these Titans. The wow factor isn’t gone, and Godzilla and his mightiness is a huge part of that. Seeing the marvelous monster mayhem on the biggest screen possible is a must. Though, this is your warning that director Michael Dougherty’s massive sequel doesn’t live up to the hype.
