Let’s dive into the week that was in college football and hit all the highlights on the SoBros Network’s College Football Roundup.

*We’ve become so accustomed to Nick Saban just completely brushing off big wins in favor of pointing out his team’s flaws that we just tuned him out as he was expressing his displeasure in where this team was at after two games. But, we saw that on full display on Saturday as the Florida Gators bowed up and smacked the Alabama Crimson Tide in the mouth…literally:

So, that’s comical and all, but damn, that’s what that game felt like in a nutshell. If Alabama doesn’t jump out to a 21-3 lead, and if Florida doesn’t miss an extra point, the Gators probably win that game and we’re having an entirely different conversation about the college football landscape this morning. Bryce Young played spectacularly, but the Tide defense was uncharacteristically bad, giving up over 400 yards of total offense to the Gators, and being run over by Florida’s rushing attack. I can’t remember the last time a team so dominantly imposed its will on Alabama – even in that lopsided National Championship game, I’m not sure Clemson was as physically dominant as the Gators were on Saturday. The Tide survived an incredible scare and if that wasn’t a wake-up call that this season isn’t going to be a gimme, I don’t know what will be.

*The Auburn-Penn State game was absolutely incredible. The White Out game at Penn State has to be one of college football’s most underrated traditions, and the game itself delivered in prime time. Don’t look now, but this Penn State team is playing well, and they’re battle-tested. That could come in handy by the time December rolls around.

*Oklahoma survived a battle with a game Nebraska squad, but we’re not here to talk about that. We are here today to simply watch in awe of this interception:

*Cincinnati showed some gumption in surviving a trip to play Indiana. They’re going to need some help, but if they keep winning, they’re going to make a push at one of the four College Football Playoff spots. They need Notre Dame to beat Wisconsin this week so that the Irish comes into their game on 10/2 undefeated and ranked highly. That’ll be Cincinnati’s last chance of the season to get a real high-quality win.

*Is Clemson good? Am I allowed to ask that out loud right now? Or, are y’all going to cancel me?

*Shout out to Fresno State for coming out and spoiling the UCLA story. They came pretty damn close to spoiling the Oregon story earlier in the year, too. There’s no guarantee they win a surprisingly interesting Mountain West this season, but if they can finish this season without another loss, I think they could be that surprise ‘Group of Five’ team to come out and push Cincinnati for that New Year’s Six bowl slot for the Go5.

*BYU absolutely rocked Arizona State, beating a ranked team for the second consecutive week. I watched the first half before I fell asleep and the Sun Devils just had no answer for them. They’re battle tested in their own right and are playing like a top 10 team, in my opinion.

*What the hell is going on in Miami? I mean, seriously, doesn’t it feel like every time we’re on the cusp of saying ‘Miami is back,’ they come out and shit the bed? They’ve fallen to 1-2 after getting run on by Michigan State, but nothing encapsulates this season for the Hurricanes so far like this play:

*Finally, I would just like to remind you guys to check in on the Florida State fans in your lives. These folks are going through it right now – 0-3 for the first time since 1976. Folks, that is 45 years.

*Personally, my top 10 would look like this:

  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia
  3. Oregon
  4. Penn State
  5. Iowa
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Cincinnati
  8. Ole Miss
  9. Texas A&M
  10. BYU
