Welcome into the kitchen at SoBros HQ – we’re takin’ some of our favorite things to make and sharing it with our most loyal readers (that’s you). Simple recipes, for easy, fulfilling dinners – that’s our aim with the SoBros Recipe Book.

Folks, today we are going to cook up one of if not the literal easiest dessert you’re ever going to cook. This is a big time comfort food for me, and you can make it in a variety of ways because of how simple it is – it’s just fruit, and it’s just a crisp. You can make it with apples, peaches…damn near any fruit you want to. I made this at the SoBros Content Retreat a couple of weeks ago, and it was a total hit. Also, FML, I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture of this dish. I’ll update this piece the next time I make it (which will probably be this weekend) with a photo!

What You’ll Need

  • Fruit of your choosing – apples, peaches, blackberries, blueberries…all of these or any combination of them work with this recipe. Personally, my favorite is to slice five peaches and sprinkle some blackberries across the top.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom
  • Pinch of cloves
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • Stick of butter

How to do it

1. Preheat oven to 375.

2. Line the bottom of an 11×7 baking dish with your fruit (sliced/diced/however you want it).

3. Combine sugar, brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, walnuts and cloves. Sprinkle over your fruit evenly.

4. Slice up butter into smaller pieces to sit on top of the mixture every couple of square inches. As it bakes, the butter will melt into the mixture.

5. Bake for 30 minutes. Let it cool a bit before serving – if you have some vanilla ice cream, serve this up with a scoop. That’s it, though! That’s the recipe. Super freakin’ easy!
