From the checkerboard floor to the oldies blaring from the speakers, there’s something timeless about Snow White Drive In in Lebanon. In fact, to this day, you can still pull into a parking spot, flash your lights, and they’ll come out to take your order. It’s been a staple in the Cedar City for as long as I can remember.

I’m 37 years old, and I can remember going to Snow White during the summers I spent helping my father at his body shop in Lebanon. It was always a good day when he mentioned this place for lunch. That’s something you don’t see too often these days – restaurants that have stood the test of time. In Nashville’s ever-changing restaurant scene, new places are opening and closing every month. For Snow White, they’ve practically been engrained in Lebanon’s history. There’s a reason for that, folks – this place is a testament to the beautiful simplicity of good food and good service. I hope you’ll find the drive out to Lebanon worth it for a meal such as this one. For more on Snow White Drive In, check out their Facebook page.

Food: 8.5/10 – In a word, it’s “hearty.” If you like the quintessential southern meat and three, Snow White is your place. But, speaking from experience outside of just the meal pictured, you can get a damn good burger and a damn good milkshake there too. I loved how savory every item I had was, seasoned as sure as the south has a reputation for seasoning its food. The gravy was rich and creamy…hell, the white and the brown…and complemented the meal perfectly. I’m a huge fan of pinto beans, and these were cooked to the perfect texture and seasoned just right (pro-tip: get it with onions and relish). The squash was fresh, fried nice and crispy. It’s the perfect down home country style meal, but again, don’t feel obligated to stick to the meat and three format. The menu at Snow White is reminiscent of those old time diners.

Value: 6.4/10 – It was about $35 for two dinners, two drinks, and a tip. These days, you can’t beat that with a stick.

Atmosphere: 6.1/10 – There’s something about Snow White that harks back to a bygone era, and I love that it feels a bit like stepping back in time when you walk through that door. Service has always been great, too.

Overall: 7/10 – There’s a reason that Snow White Drive In has been a veritable institution out here east of town for as long as I can remember. Some of the best southern food you’ll ever have at reasonable prices. You just can’t beat it. It’s like taking in some Tennessee history every time you sit down for a meal.
