Rooster and I had ourselves another fun year on Phone It In, a show that has held on to the #2 spot on the SoBros Network podcast charts for two years running now, behind only The Unofficial Titans Podcast in terms of downloads per episode. I’m proud of this show and the work that Rooster puts in to keep a fresh rotation of topics going. I’ve tried to wrap my brain around what the secret sauce here is, and I just keep coming back to how Rooster and I are unapologetically unafraid to bring our sense of humor and genuine curiosity to topics that interest us. If you haven’t already checked out an episode, I’ve picked my five favorite shows from 2022. Since we’re starting to wind down for the year, there’s no better time to introduce yourself to this show that is among the best and most creative shit we do here on SoBros Network.
The Best of Phone It In, 2023
Ep. 41: Dark Matter – link – We kicked off the year with a venture into the world of physics and posited our own theories as to what exactly dark matter could be, using our very important and credible reckless speculation skills. Somehow, we ended up on “is dark matter God?” So, if you’re into mushrooms or acid, this might be a good episode to trip to.
Ep. 44: The Appalachian Mountains – link – After driving through the region dozens of times and hearing all of the spooky folklorish stories coming out of the area, I knew this was going to be a good one. Equal parts history lesson and geology lesson, we dive deep into what was our most downloaded episode of the year.
Ep. 46: Modern Credible UFO Stories – link – Back when all the UFO stories were coming out from the government, we took the opportunity to dig into some of the more recent sightings and experiences that have a little more credible backing.
Ep. 50: Men In Black – link – For our milestone 50th episode, that also happened to coincide with Spooky Season, Rooster wanted to dig into quite the deep, hefty topic. This isn’t about the Will Smith movie. This is an introduction to the real life high strangeness that surrounds the tales of the Men In Black.
Ep. 52: A History of Cannibalism – link – In my 10 years of working for SoBros Network, I’ve done two things that have made me want to vomit: eating mac and cheese flavored candy canes for a video review and this podcast.
