Welcome to the weekly Tennessee Titans draft roundup for the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the course of the next several weeks, I’ll be releasing this column once a week with my very professional journalism opinions. You’ll find everything from rumors to wild speculation to actual analysis (sometimes). Titan up!

*Hot damn, we have finally made it. As I sit here on the day of the 2021 NFL Draft, I feel aware of what a special day it is. It’s a veritable football holiday here. But, I’m also fucking tired. I don’t know what it is, but this draft season has felt particularly long. I appreciate you guys stickin’ with us through all of the draft work. I promise we’ll get back to your regularly scheduled SoBros programming next week.

I do want to remind you guys about our livestream tonight – Steven McCash, Outspoken Owen, and myself will be going live on the main SoBros accounts on Facebook, Twitter (Periscope), and YouTube. Grab a beer and watch along to the first round of the NFL Draft with us tonight. At the very least, pop open the SoBros NFL Draft Drinking Game, and get shwasted.

Just remember: Vontae Mack no matter what.

*There’s still time to catch my podcast with Charles Barnes – we break down every angle that makes sense for the Titans in the first round, and dive into an array of prospects. This was a really good and really fun one:

Listen to “Ep. 60: Talkin' Draft with Charles Barnes” on Spreaker.

*All in all, I’ve written about around 50 guys as possibilities for the Titans. Some of my favorites include: Kadarius Toney, Elijah Moore, Greg Newsome, and Caleb Farley to fill needs. If there’s any shot at Jaycee Horn, man…I’m going to be a happy Titans fan. I also think Zaven Collins could wind up being the best defensive player to come out of this draft when we look back on it in a few years. I just don’t think linebacker is the biggest need for this team (I see Collins as more of a dynamic ILB with physical traits that could lend to use as an EDGE). Still, if the value’s there, I’d be happy with the pick. I don’t want a right tackle in the first round, but if the Titans do go with one, I like Teven Jenkins a lot.

Beyond the first round, I am absolutely enamored with Ifeatu Melifonwu and Nick Bolton. Add Trill Williams, Tylan Wallace, Sage Surratt (with a projected move to TE), Alim McNeil, and Cornell Powell to my wish list. Gun to my head, a dream scenario with those first four picks would be Kadarius Toney, Nick Bolton, and Ifeatu Melifonwu. If that happens, I’m going to be geeked out of my mind. I might just run through a brick wall.

*Final predictions: I say it’s going to be a wide receiver. The Titans invested heavily in the defensive front throughout free agency, and while there’s still a serious need at corner, I think they patched enough together, with a deep corner class, to alleviate that need as a first round must-have. At least, that could be what they’re thinking. But, they have to replace the receiving production of Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith. That’s why I think receiver may be higher on their board than corner.

*My final take on this year’s draft before we wrap up our pre-draft content….I will say this: to any NFL team that takes a quarterback not named Trevor Lawrence over Justin Fields…you will regret that in three years’ time.

*As it stands, the Titans currently have nine picks in the 2021 NFL Draft:

  • 1st round, 22nd overall
  • 2nd round, 53rd overall
  • 3rd round, 85th overall
  • 3rd round, 100th overall
  • 4th round, 126th overall
  • 5th round, 166th overall
  • 6th round, 205th overall
  • 6th round, 215th overall
  • 7th round, 232nd overall
